AIEDS
The AI energy disclosure standard. Provider-neutral reporting of modeled energy and carbon from AI work.
What it is
A provider-neutral standard for reporting modeled energy and carbon from AI work. Methodology 2.0.0 is current, and versions 1.x are superseded and must not be used for new disclosures.
The published document is the citable source of truth. Cite the methodology version together with the sha256 of the source bytes.
The order the metrics go in
- Level 1, energy in kWh or Wh, then carbon in gCO2e.
- Level 2, operational facts: input tokens, output tokens, cost, latency.
- Level 3, educational comparisons derived from Level 1, never substitutes for it.
The v2 response path is energy-first: energy is computed from token counts and a provider PUE, and carbon follows from energy and grid intensity.
